You can still use err(typeer, "associative operation (data must be a vector type)") Only formats (and PARIformats) are forbidden: so you can't do err(typeer, "associative operation (data must be a vector type).\nOffending arg was: %Z", x) but it would be trivial to support this (in the err() switch, move typeer to the 'talker & al' case) [ Caveat: messages containing % would now need special care ].
