new flag suggestion

Hi,

I propose a flag along the line of --disable-readline, because
autodetection fails in cases where, for example, readline is 32bit,
and I am building a 64bit binary.  An alternative to this flag is to
compile and run a test program which would indicate whether
autodetected readline library can be used.
