Does pristine 2.2.5 really allow shared library on Mac OS X ??

Could you try the patch against 2.2.6 I have sent to this list to add 
shared library on Mac OS X ?

  From all your comments on the patch against 2.2.5, it should be
relatively straightforward to build a shared library  with this patch,
but 'make bench' will not work, but the library should work properly
once installed.
