Could you show us your paricfg.h file in the object directory ?

Mine has

#define GPHELP "/home/bill/src/pari/i686/bin/gphelp"
#define GPDATADIR "/home/bill/src/pari/i686/share/pari"

which is correct.

As far as I understand, $miscdir does not exist anymore.
Instead a path relative to $datadir is used.

src/gp/gp.c and paricfg.h should be changed accordingly
to not reference GPMISCDIR anymore.
