This is a side effect of  2.2.4 C4

    4- automatic concatenation for strings: use longest match for expression.
       print("a"[1]) is not valid since "a" is not a vector
       print("a", [1])  prints  'a[1]'

I am not yet sure if it is a bug, but generally you should use commas to
separate objects in print(). Like in print("v=",[1,2,3]).  Not doing so
is slightly deprecated.
